Shit, you got me I did go to college with Angelina Jolie! How did you guess?

In all seriousness, the child safety experts for years have said in any case that house parties with people you know or taking them to malls or community centers  is far safer than letting them go on their own, door to door. And no, I am not talking about kidnapping, but even something as simple as walking across the street without looking in a dark costume in the the dark, and getting hit by a car. Kids get excited, and even teens and don't always pay attention.

There are ways of having fun and being safe and not bugging your neighbors at the same time. That is all I meant by my responses.

I'm usually not even home so why bother with candy?

I'd prefer to receive plain dark chocolate or mint chocolate.

I don't turn people away based on age.  If someone shows up in costume they get candy.  If they show up in a well thought-out costume, they get extra.

I haven't passed out candy in a long time because I'm out with my kid trick-or-treating.
But I like Reese's Peanut Butter cups, Kit Kat and Mounds, which coincidentally are also the candy that I like to steal from my kid's Halloween haul lol.

One year I weighed the candy she got from about 2 hours of trick-or-treating - it was 5 pounds!

Last year someone was giving out some treat made from hemp seeds...I love it here on the Left Coast. Big Grin

We turn out the lights and stay in the back of the house so the little motherfuckers don't ring the bell and annoy the dogs.

That reminded me of one house my daughter and I went to one year while trick-or-treating. The porch lights were burning bright so we rang the doorbell - no answer. Tried again - no dice.

As we were leaving we walked by the front window. The curtain was parted ever so slightly and on a table was a "Book of Jehovah" or whatever they call their book.

I still laugh at the irony. I never figured out why they left their dang lights on, though.

I was all into candy when I was a kid, I rarely eat sweets now that I'm an adult.

Kids don't come around here for trick-or-treating, so I don't have to buy candy for that. When I do have a rare craving, it's usually for Jolly Ranchers.
