Wait! When did I miss the demonstration that such a thing as 'sensus divinitatis' is a real thing?
How can I tell the difference between my natural occurring, pattern seeking and overactive agency detecting brain, misinterpreting some brain state, and sensing actual gods?

Not very likely. The vast majority of modern philosophers are atheists.

Which would not happen.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

What do you think will happen?

If Notre dam Cathedral disappears people will be wondering 'what's that opens pace', it wasn’t there yesterday. If the thing still dominates the Paris skyline then there will be a chorus of 'what the fuck's that? There's far to many paradoxes for this to work.

Ok, so now I'm scrolling through my music library and I double click 'Handel's Messiah'. Now what happens?

It's all about indoctrination. Without it, it cannot work.
It's just a psychological tool. Once we break that cycle, everybody wakes up and we all get on with our lives... No fear, no carrots, no mental gymnastics, no nothing.
Jesus, Shmesus!
Bollocks! All it takes for a new religion is a handful of mugs and one conman.

I think a lot of church-based acquaintances would break down when the Smiths realize that they don't really like the Joneses well enough to hang out with them. On the other side of the coin, there might be family reunions when shunned family members are welcomed home.

Cults may spring up. So what. The law will see them for what they are and treat them accordingly. No tax free bullshit because as chimp says, the law makers have no knowledge of religions, so no special pleading applies.

I'm not sure who said it but it goes something like 'a religion is an old cult, and a cult is a new religion'.

Ok, so now I'm scrolling through my music library and I double click 'Handel's Messiah'. Now what happens? The music is still there but the song title is blank.

Chimp, now you're going all back to the future on us! EG: what if I was looking at a photo I took of a Cathedral with priests in front holding bibles in their hands?
Also, I'm also watching The Exorcist again, what is she going to shove up her ....you know.... and what will the audience hear her say?

The Bibles would just be books. The collars would be gone. The building just a building with men in black.
For little Regan we would have to substitute Elvis references.

New one will appear - if religions are rooted in human misery then what stops frauds in poor countries from inventing new ones? What will stop people with authoritarian tendencies from making another sky daddy and yelling obey? What will stop ignorant from claiming that they have one true answer so they can soothe themselves and clad in garment of certainty?
If conditions that make religions possible will not disappear then religions itself will survive I would say.
The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.
