Something vaguely similar is one of the reasons I left NI. I was once locked up for a little more than 7 months - no formal charges, no legal representation, not permitted any outside contact (including family). When it was finally determined that there was nothing to charge me with and I was let out, I was presented with a bill for £3200. For room and board. Boru
