However, I did learn some of the headlines you might say during Introduction to Psychology class. The professor said that according to the theory, our primary purpose is to reproduce, they went (gender neutral pronoun) as far as to claim that nature tricks us into thinking we're in love, but the primary purpose is just to reproduce.
From that point of view, and as a gay man myself, could the theory of Evolution based on that interpretation be used to justify homophobia? After all, this is basically what the Roman Catholic Church says about marriage and sex.
What do you think? And while we're on the subject of homophobia, do you think homophobia would still exist even religion didn't? What about China, Soviet Russia, and also Estonia which is predominantly irreligious but LGBTQ people have had tough times.
First off, China is not an atheist country, I am tired of that bullshit. The communist party allows religion, but just like any other aspect of China, including business and speech, what they don't allow is dissent to their rule. China is a majority of Asian religions like Taoism, Jainism, Buddhism, but do also have Muslims and Christians.
LGBT worldwide have always been a minority so it should be no shock that even non Abrahamic countries also discriminate against LGBT.
FYI, CHINA stems from the same cold war Communism as the Soviet Union. Russia is also NOT an atheist country. Russia has always been a majority Russian Orthodox Christianity. EVEN under Stalin. Stalin silenced any dissent, not just religion. He also relaxed restrictions on the Russian Orthodox church to gain support for fighting Hitler.
Cuba, also is NOT an atheist country. It is a majority CATHOLIC.
Japan also discriminates against LGBT, it was only last year that it's first prefecture, allowed same sex unions, but the rest of the country still does not allow it.
I also would not make this solely about LGBT. The majority of ALL the world's religions are still also a majority male dominated and rooted deeply in the patriarchal religions of antiquity. Women still worldwide although half the world's population, are on average not treated as equally as their male counterparts. Japan has even less female politicians as America. You won't see a female Dali Lama anytime soon just like you wont see a female Pope anytime soon.
Discrimination of LGBT is global for the most part. I wouldn't single out one religion or one nation, just like sexism isn't a patent owned by one religion or nation.
