Big trouble in little China? Local thing here.

Big trouble in little China? Local thing here.
I hope not. I am pretty sure I am worried for nothing.

But the Chinese joint I have been going to for years, was not open this morning, even though the lights were on and the sign on the door for Sunday said 12noon open, I was there at 5mins to 1pm. If you change your hours for the winter you need to change the sign on the door. But I swear this is not normal. The lady at the tanning salon next door said there was a day they opened late, but last week I was there for lunch early so.

I did call the police, they went around back to check the back door for a car. Nothing. Maybe they simply forgot to change the door sign, or had a unexpected family thing. But three patrons came by while I was waiting for the police to show up so others also expect the place to be open. I just hope I really am worried for nothing. I like those folks who work there and they've always been nice to me and serve great food too.

I think they were protesting me because I am not a communist. They said to themselves, "We are tired of that Yankee coming in here ordering the same crap." Big Grin

But in all seriousness, it was jarring to go there, see the lights on, see the time on the door, and the store not being open an hour after the door sign said it should be. I swear I was there last Sunday around the same time. So if you change the hours for winter, you should note that on the door sign.

I am probably worried for nothing, but still, in my years of going there, that was a first. I love those guys.

Like I said in my earlier post, it was not just me. 3 other people showed up trying to go there while I was waiting for the police.

I will wag my finger at them when I see them again. Kinda like my mom jumped on me when I didn't make my regular daily calls.

Jacky Chan is going to hear from me! Then in short order kick my ass for making such a joke.

YEP, that was the case, just called them, they don't open until 4 on Sundays.

Scared the crap out of me. Glad I was wrong.

My mom got two KIA-BNR telegrams, eleven months apart. She didn't know where I was at the time. Actually, she didn't know where I was most of the time.

Not knowing the code, I am going to guess this is military related and she stressed out not knowing where you were? Moms are Moms, thank you for your service but my mom freaked out over me and I didn't serve. I won't pretend the stress is the same, but Moms are Moms.

I am not kidding. If I didn't call twice or 3 times a day and missed my window, she got to the point a few times of wanting to call the police for a welfare check.

I don't care even if it isn't war, Moms worry, there is no way to stop it.

I look at it this way even with this restaurant. I think ethical police and firemen and military would prefer it be a false alarm then an actual emergency. I can say just worrying about my Mom, I was always glad that when I did freak out, I'd call her and would turn out everything was fine.

I wont pretend to understand the stress of combat, or the worry of a parent of a soldier, but a parent is a parent and a child will worry as much as the parent when they are that close regardless.

These were not family of course, but still. I am glad it was me and not anything serious.

You called the cops because a restaurant wasn't open when it usually is?

YES, because

1. The lights were on.

2. It was 1pm and the time for open on the list of days on the door for Sunday was 12 noon, when I showed up.

3. 3 other people thought the same thing and showed up while I was waiting for the police.

The simple solution to avoid the confusion would be for them to CHANGE the time on the door to reflect the actual hours they are open.

But if you expect me to feel sorry for not knowing their hours or caring that they were not dead inside or robbed, nope. I am glad it was a false alarm.

Not going to feel sorry about caring about my fellow human beings. Egos be dammed, theirs or mine.

The first one perturbed her. She wasn't sure it was the right person. She thought I was in South America.

When she got the second one I had already called her.

BTW, that was my wondering around. False alarms, etc. I'm a spider-web thinker. Rarely obvious to people outside my skull. Inside, they're privy.

Most of my wives would say the graphic is accurate.
