Should I tell my girlfriend that I'm an atheist?

RE: Should I tell my girlfriend that I'm an atheist?
I’d bring it up like so:

You: I know you’re not really my girlfriend yet...
but suppose you’re my wife a year from now and you’re breastfeeding our baby named Doris, when my mom informs you that I’m atheist. Boom. What would you do?
(Then you stare at her eagerly)

No?  Tongue

Alright. No then.

I don’t date theists. I’m too much of a heathen to be liked by one.  Angel

How serious are things at this point between you and her? If you're just kind of talking right now, it doesn't sound that serious. How long have you been talking? Have you met her in person?

I decided to try dating apps about 6 months ago and I put on my profile "I'm an atheist" (among other things). It doesn't seem to make much difference from when I tried online dating without this on my profile. One man I met had biblical quotes all over his Facebook page and yet he was still interested, go figure.

If you're getting into a long term relationship with this woman then you'll have to bring it up sooner or later. But if you're willing to accept her Christianity, it only seems fair that she would accept your atheism.

You should find out more about what kind of church she goes to and what impact Christianity has on her daily life. If she goes to one of the more liberal "mainline" Protestant churches she may be more accepting of your atheism. If she goes to a more conservative church you may have a problem. Some conservative Protestants won't date non-Christians so you might strike out if that's the case.

I would say there's no harm in being honest.

As a true atheist, I stand behind my beliefs 100%. But when it comes to women, that 100% turns into about 23%.

I don't think that admitting my atheism to her will sway her intentions towards me. I'm more likely to screw that up on my own. But none the less I am trying to present an image from the core of my being that is nothing more than myself. I keep it real. So I want to tell her that I don't believe in her God (though not exactly in those words LOL). Should I just make the announcement plain bold and simple? Or should I just wait until it kind of falls into place? Opinions atheists. I trust your feedback more than I've ever trusted the Christians, even if you guys have more sarcasm behind your rhetorics.

First try to find out if she is a devouted believer, someone who practices religion just for comfort or something in the middle. I recommend you not to ask her directly that, but instead tell her about people of different faiths and see how she reacts. Try to find out what she thinks about atheists before telling her that you're atheist.
It's also very important to see if she fits you regarding other things than religion.

If it comes up don't lie.
My atheism isn't a big part of my life so I don't go around talking about it. I'm not sure the people I work with know of my lack of faith because it just doesn't come up.
