How is it that these two are practiced by a combined 2 billion people around the globe. What is it about these religions that have given them the ability to maintain control over the masses? Also, why is it people still associate with religion? Such as specific denominations? Not really sure why you'd want to always be told what you can and can't do by some crusty old men. But that's just me.

Why is Christianity and Islam so widely practiced?
|
Christianity is so diluted down these days it's hardly an inconvenience at all to be one, and the Islamites at times get pretty testy with backsliders so between the 2 faiths, you can encompass just about everyone.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

"Practice" in regards to any religion is fucking bullshit. It is like saying "I practice Harry Potter" or "I practice Yoda" Certainly there are fans deep into any of those clubs, including Hinduism, and Buddhism, but that is not a "practice" in as much as it is fandom. Why are humans fans of deities and superstition? For the same reason humans are fans of Soccer but not NFL football. You can also find "experts" in Major League Baseball" stats. But that does not make baseball a requirement to live life, much less the only sport followed. There is no such thing as practicing ANY RELIGION. There are only humans whom buy the label, then read up on the history like a fan of a sport or comic book series. You practice, law. You practice medicine. You follow religion. Just like you follow a sport. (November 18, 2017 at 5:49 pm)It_Was_me Wrote: How is it that these two are practiced by a combined 2 billion people around the globe. Control is maintained because people identify as religious and tick the religion box on the census when they are really not. I would be surprised if half of this amount practiced it correctly, or have even read their holy books. Do you know any Christians who don't have Christian parents, do you know any Muslim's who don't have have Muslim parents, Hindus? Start off with a large number and you will always have large numbers. A child of Christian parents upon reaching the age of four has the Sterling silver chain and the symbol of torture placed around its neck. You are ours, you have been assimilated, you are now part of the Borg/catholic church. When I come to power there will be a mandatory six year jail sentence for any adult telling their kids that disgusting story. I have spoken.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

Sometimes I have to wonder if those two doctrines are religions at all, particularly Islaam. Both, in their own ways, are way too set on demographic expansion to the detriment of their actual value as religious doctrines. In any case, it seems to me that both capitalize quite a lot on the simple fact that people usually attempt to avoid questioning the cherished beliefs of others (particularly when it is close family) if they can help it. And since both are well-known for presuming one to share their beliefs and forgetting to actually ask, there is an efficient if deeply flawed mechanism in place to raise their numbers and keep them stable across generations.

You don't have to give up doing anything you weren't doing beforehand, you can keep your prejudices and bigotry, you get a big ego-stroke by knowing you have a personal relationship with a god, as well as having a lot of people agreeing with you, and you get a whole bunch of people who you can look down on and claim they're persecuting you.
"The last superstition of the human mind is the superstition that religion in itself is a good thing." - Samuel Porter Putnam
Followers by the name and symbols; maybe. But when it comes to life; humanity have spoken: God has no place in the modern world.
All countries follow secular constitutions, or semi-secular. The UN is the biggest secular global organization worldwide, and the whole world is part of it. It's an atheist world, that suffers from a religious hangover from the past. Not judging; but I don't think the majority give a damn about religion. Once, back when I was a Christian in a young adult group the group was asked how many of you read the Bible every week, month etc. Almost no one raised their hand for at least once a week.
Because sheeple are brainwashed into worshiping Jewsus Crisp, Allah, Yahweh, or whatever they want
to call their imaginary friend, by their parents. Nuff said... |
