The most inspirational movies that left an indelible impression on you!

My god, Brian. You're not supposed to dislike the classics. But it's ok. I didn't get into all the classics either.
Poe's Law: "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

10 Christ-like figures that predate Jesus. Link shortened to Chris ate Jesus for some reason...

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

I always feel inspired by a film at the time, maybe to be more peaceful, happy and appreciate what I have.  But then the next day I'll be back to normal and want to punch someone to the ground and bite out their throat because I think they stole my pen.

I suppose the films that would have had the most impact would be the ones I watched in my childhood because those were the days when I'd just repeatedly watch a film, and my mind was more suggestible.

So probably....

Mary Poppins.
Alladin.
The lion king.
short circuit 2.
IT.
Nightmare on Elm st.
Alice in wonderland.  The TV miniseries and the disney version.

I just realized IT and alice in wonderland were technically a TV miniseries but whatever.

The sword in the stone.

Some of these I would watch as an OCD type of thing.  to give me comfort before I had to go into school or something.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Humphrey Bogart in "Key Largo"

But as far as social issues "A Patch Of Blue" has to be all time favorite.

It is about a black teacher helping a blind white girl find courage to stand up for herself and ditch her neglectful abusive family. I cry every time I watch that movie.

Catholics, cant live with them, cant shoot em.  Big Grin  Tongue

I really have no room to talk considering how much shit I get for liking ABBA.

What do you mean we can't shoot them?

Well, there goes my safari holiday over Christmas!

Have to say, while I enjoyed Forrest Gump when I saw it, it's the kind of movie I'll only watch once.

Unlike the Gump song by Weird Al.

I'm cheating because it was a mini-series but Carl Sagan's Cosmos.

ABBA sucks. And one of my favorite musicians of all time, Steven Wilson, would strongly disagree with me.

Actually, though some of it's dated, there's some really good ABBA music.

Give me 70s and 80s music over much of today's crap.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
