Record few Americans believe in Biblical inerrancy.
RE: Record few Americans believe in Biblical inerrancy.
What follows is a post I made here 18 months ago (m/l) and I note, curiously, unlike the Christian community's radical embrace of divorce/remarriage (after centuries of abhorrence) my views (reflecting the Lord God Almighty's views in these last 18 months HAVE NOT changed.  Might be another topic to reflect upon for our friends here big on believing in an Immortal and Unchanging Inerrant God sometime.

Anyhow, here's a missive from the archive:

The 'Bless You' thing is actually quite interesting. addendum: reply is being made in a thread on sneezing, we had topics like that before Hillary lost the election, BION

Since the Bible is clear a person's immortal soul is conveyed via the breath, it was/is (or should be if you're a Bible oriented person) a concern during sneezing the soul might be disrupted/dislodged from it's protective lair in the chest cavity and either (never totally clear to me which or both) the briefly unensouled body might be vulnerable to the sway of Satan (or his minions), or the briefly disembodied soul might be similarly vulnerable.

So, to ward off this substantial threat of Satanic depredation, apparently a simple "Bless you!" or "God bless you!" is all that is needed to deflect the entire might of the legion of darkness and protect the briefly vulnerable soul/person.

On a related topic, this religious concept (ordained by God Almighty) that the human soul is conveyed via the breath, is why we saw Henry Ford was so eager to collect in a bottle (on display in his museum to this day) the dying breath of Thomas Edison, his sincere belief being that he had snared, for his own purposes, the immortal soul of that great inventor.

Also, the phrase "Gave up the ghost" is another allusion to the human soul being conveyed via the breath, and giving up the ghost upon death is describing the soul being liberated from it's host body and then wafting up to heaven and it's final disposition.

And this leads us to that common and vile heresy, that prior to birth and the first breath that a human fetus is an ensouled person. Clearly, this is not the case, and maintaining the contrary is clear and open rebellion against God and His definition of human life.

I would take this opportunity to again admonish the Christians in the vicinity to turn away from this foul and vile heresy and get square with God!!

Praise Jesus !!

so, then as now, as it was 6000+ years ago, that is how God decreed His immortal souls were going to work. Folks who think they know better, well, do I need to post that all over again ?????
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I'm not going to dispute the point except to say that for most xhristards a fart seems the more appropriate method.

Least surprised I've ever  been reading a new post from you . . . .

If god exists, he keeps bad company.

Most of his bozos here must want us to go to hell; they are either incompetent or unpleasant. With few exceptions.

Consistency by itself gets you somewhere, it just doesn't take you all the way. You need good information too.

Math is consistent. F=mg works every time when trying to calculate an unknown.

Once you obtain the values of m and g, you can use the equation to figure out F. But you'll get the wrong answer if you plug in the wrong number for any one variable. Accepting premises as true when they are false is like plugging incorrect variables into an algebraic equation. If you plug bad information into an algebraic expression, you get bad information out of it. This says nothing about algebra's efficacy. So it is with logic.

Quote:I haven't said I value logic in no way. You've got to watch your false dichotomies.

But you said earlier:

Quote:Point being that you've already asserted that logic is better than faith in such regard, but you don't know if it's true. The assertion just flows from your materialist worldview. [my emphasis]
The assertion that "logic is better than faith" in no way follows from materialism. That is my claim. If anyone is putting his toes in the false dichotomy shark pool, it's you.
