As far back as I can see, the idea of "soul" and "spirit" goes back to Aristotle who Alexander the Great had in tow when he conquered Israel. The Jews said to Alexander that he was predicted in their Scriptures and showed him. They said, "Try look Brah, we knew you where coming!" This impressed Alexander.

Anyway, the Scriptures say very, very, little about the afterlife, especially the OT of the time. Aristotle taught the Jews about the "material" and "immaterial". That's when these immaterial ideas started showing up. The bible, whether OT, or NT, does NOT talk about "soul" or "spirit"! Those are just extensions of a Non-Jew named Aristotle rehashed and reinvented so man could teach an afterlife to the curious. By the way, I learned this from a learned Jew.

Biblically speaking, there is nothing in the bible about God being "supernatural". God will always be subjected to what He has made which means He is also NOT Omni. God is preternatural with the highest authority of command.

Biological life is breathing in O2 and breathing out CO2. Biblical life is about living the party that I have been living for decades with out fear, shame or guilt. Yet, I had to get out of the handcuffs and prison of theology to find it. In order to get out of that prison I had to go back to the bible and reread in the autographed languages. In doing so, theology and all religion has been trashed by me using the bible.

Now you know why I'm on Atheist Forums and not Christian Forums. Believe or not, they called me a blaspheming, lewd heretic! OFD--Oh Fuckin' Darn!
My girlfriend thinks I'm a stalker. Well...she's not my girlfriend "yet".

I discovered a new vitamin that fights cancer. I call it ...B9

I also invented a diet pill. It works great but had to quit taking it because of the side effects. Turns out my penis is larger and my hair grew back. And whoa! If you think my hair is nice!

When does size truly matter? When it's TOO big!

The idea of a soul or spirit probably goes back to prehistory. After all, when we sleep, we seem to be somewhere else while other observers can testify we didn't go anywhere physically. With little information about neural activity, it's not surprising that a conjecture that we have immaterial and invisible 'spirit bodies' that leave our physical bodies would be compelling to many people.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Quote:Shamans claim to gain knowledge and the power to heal by entering into the spiritual world or dimension. Most shamans have dreams or visions that convey certain messages. The shaman may have or acquire many spirit guides, who often guide and direct the shaman in their travels in the spirit world. These spirit guides are always present within the shaman, although others encounter them only when the shaman is in a trance. The spirit guide energizes the shaman, enabling them to enter the spiritual dimension. The shaman heals within the spiritual dimension by returning 'lost' parts of the human soul from wherever they have gone. The shaman also cleanses excess negative energies, which confuse or pollute the soul.

Quote:In November 2008, researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem announced the discovery of a 12,000-year-old site in Israel that is perceived as one of the earliest known shaman burials. The elderly woman had been arranged on her side, with her legs apart and folded inward at the knee. Ten large stones were placed on the head, pelvis and arms. Among her unusual grave goods were 50 complete tortoise shells, a human foot, and certain body parts from animals such as a cow tail and eagle wings. Other animal remains came from a boar, leopard, and two martens. "It seems that the woman … was perceived as being in a close relationship with these animal spirits", researchers noted. The grave was one of at least 28 graves at the site, located in a cave in lower Galilee and belonging to the Natufian culture, but is said to be unlike any other among the Epipaleolithic Natufians or in the Paleolithic period.[98]

Funny how you trash the bible and want to talk about "Shamanism! And I thought I was funny! That's beside the point like my ears. I do know something about healing.

Let's keep this simple: someone says to you that their wrist is hurting them. They have pain. Merely ask God Himself(He could care less if you 'believe' in Him or not) to throw energy at that pain source using the geometry of your hand(fingers). The energy loves the geometry of your hands. Wave your finger tips in a counterclockwise(outgoing: clockwise is incoming energy) motion over the pain area.

The patient will feel a tingle followed by a burning sensation and ask you to stop. Their pain will be gone!

Make a copper coil by bending a copper wire(zinc or aluminum is also good) in half and twisting the ends together in a counterclockwise(outgoing) fashion. Dip it in hardwood ashes and water with a little bit of olive oil and let it dry. This is called "nanocoating". You can use this first to alleviate pain in someone else if you need the crutch. But, you use that once and the energy knows what you are trying to do. Then you will no longer need the crutch. Just permission to use the energy. It is not supernatural because that energy is and can do. By the way, everything that is, including you, is that energy so it has an affinity for you and the patient. Practice and you will get really good at it. It can be frustrating at first.

And the dumbasses call themselves "Faith Healers".

When a female comes to me and says that they have a headache, I tell them that it is the result of a lack of sex and I can help them. I grab their head with both hands then put my lips to their forehead and make a loud kissing sound. Works every time!
My girlfriend thinks I'm a stalker. Well...she's not my girlfriend "yet".

Just to nit pick, biological life is not about breathing in O2 and breathing out CO2.  In fact during first 1/3 of the entire history of life on earth absolutely nothing living breathed in O2.

Biblical life, on the other hand,  is all about not having any clue what biological life really is and still hoping to keep others as close to that state of filthy ignorance marinated in self-serving wishthinking for as long as possible.
