Disappointing my family
December 23, 2017 at 5:57 am
My family is moderate christian. They are still very attached to Christianity. They will be disappointed when I'll come out as an atheist. Sometimes I wonder if they're sure I'm christian and/or fear that I'll become one.

Why disappoint them...?
Can't you pretend until you're ready to leave home ...then tell them slowly...

Well , I have 2 friends that are atheists and their parents know about what they think . I don't think they are disapointed.

Not much of a family if they're going to be disappointed in you for your viewpoint.

No, they're not. It's just that I'm sick of pretending that I like their fairytales. The pretending was kind of funny and exciting at first, but now it's getting repetitive. I will leave home soon, but untill then I'll have to endure. I made this post so that I can talk to someone about this, to stop getting bored. Don't get me wrong, advice is still welcome.

Put on "The Life of Brian" on the communal tv on Christmas day.
That'll give them a hint... But just a hint.

Disappointing your parents is part of growing up. They'll get over it.

Any parent who has a normal teen, is already used to disappointments. It's no biggie... after all, children are often disappointed by the adults around them while growing up!
