Beginner's Guide to Atheism.

Everything to do with you Rik.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

The documentary version of Dawkins' The God Delusion does a good job of driving those final nails into the coffin of theism. Going by the old adage that it takes one to know one I only hope Rik is mistaken this time, Vulcandude, and that you are not the loser he is. RE: Beginner's Guide to Atheism.

Typical. A pleasant thread is started proposing to collect support media for new atheists on an atheist forum - - where people like me (relatively new atheist) come to find such support. And the wackjob preacher just can't resist making it all about how we're stupid for rejecting his fantasies. While we're making suggestions, how about a private area of the forum (like the Adult Forum) that is "atheist only" - - free from theist interference? -- It would mean more work to maintain, so I can see how it might be a no-go, but geez! To jump in and try to hijack THIS thread was really low.

To jump in and try to hijack THIS thread was really low. We could have it as a webpage adjunct to the forum. Resources proposed here, vetted by the regulars/veterans, and posted there. Broad categories, "New to Atheism?", subcategories "Primer reading/Where do I go from here?", etc. Quote:In fact Dawkins doesn't make sense at all. Proof, as if any were needed, that he is way too smart for a fuckhead like you, LR. In any event, The Bible Unearthed by Finkelstein is the best book on the subject for ripping out the foundation of jesusism.... and islam too, for that matter. You can't build a house on a foundation of sand and the OT is a pile of shit. (January 14, 2018 at 1:31 pm)Minimalist Wrote:Quote:In fact Dawkins doesn't make sense at all. You don't need Richard Dawkins for that. Jar Jar Binks is way too smart for this arsewipe, and he's a fucking cartoon.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
I'd recommend every new atheist to IMMEDIATELY go eat some fresh Christian baby meat.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

With all due respect, I wouldn't have expected you to give any credence to the theological opinions of Dawkins, or any of the so-called "new atheists" for that matter. Sartre or Camus would be better choices IMHO. RE: Beginner's Guide to Atheism.

Meh. Not everyone's a philosopher. (Camus is a great suggestion though.) I picked something that resonated with me personally but also has some broad appeal. Whether it's "new atheism" or not Dawkins puts together a phalanx of arguments including Russell's teapot and many other points, many of which did not originate with him. As far as a "beginners guide to atheism" it does the job pretty well. |
