I’m still glad there is a conversation going on about sexual misconduct, though. I feel as though many things go through a pendulum effect in order to attain a perfect middle. There was a time when women were encouraged to stay silent and never speak of such things. I know I stayed silent for years. My own pastor shamed me and told me I needed to repent for what happened to me, and he requested that I not talk about it with others. Now we have a conversation. People are expressing their opinions, sharing their stories, and bringing up tough questions. This is progress. Whether or not I agree with everyone, I’m glad it’s being talked about.
