No, I don’t believe people are ‘idiots’ for thinking/hoping that there is consciousness beyond death. I wish I could believe it with them. You could try asking an individual Theist why they believe, instead of dolling out lazy, blanket insults.

Wiser words were never spoken.
It's human nature to create things for the brain to comprehend things that are unknown. Even as children we ask why to everything and the answer 'just because' is never enough. No one is stupid or an idiot for following human nature.

Purple, you do realize you are feeding the stereotype of the angry atheist by the string of posts and threads you've made recently, right? This is a public forum. Anyone browsing the web reading up on atheists/atheism can see what you wrote. In the end you're only hurting your own label by posting this type of stuff publicly. Might be a good idea to turn it down a notch.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Which only further feeds into his image..
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.
