The 5th element was a comedy sci-fi.

Interstellar set itself up as a serious sci-fi.

The two aren't even remotely comparable in terms of style, which is important. Also I don't think the stories are the same at all.

Oh, yeah, thanks for reminding me. The 5th Element was garbage. Stupid story, that could have been written by a teenager - which it was; annoying, cartoonish characters; uninspired performances - especially by McClane Willis; Jovovich looks like a starved scarecrow...

Honestly? Because I deal with enough people in mah hause that don't have common sense. I can't sit through that shit in a movie.
