I get this (the swaying part) when I've been sailing for a week or so and finally get to land. I find it worst in confined places like the shower, but it goes away after a day or two.

Do you know what might cause this chronically for you?

The apparent motion sensation is a lot like the sensation you have when you're getting your land legs back.

As far as your question.... Onset was motion related but the syndrome is a neurological. It isn't like Meneire's disease where there is a discernable cause.
