In Kate Anderson Browers book on First Ladies, I'd suggest everyone go read the section on Betty Ford visiting ghastly third world children's hospitals and how she was coached to react before she went inside. It's profound.
I think I've noted this item before . . . The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

It's all about framing and spin. They should not have taken a photo like this, they should have put photos, unposed of Trump talking to them and appearing to console them. Press Secretary's office fucked up.
