I am firmly on the side of the anti-death penalty folks here. I am also firmly on the side of right to die.
It is my opinion that convicts shall be held in prison, their freedom deprived to but the most base and unfulfilled extents, until their sentence is served or they are dead. If they wish to die, then it is their right to die.
Crimes against fellow man should deprive the aggressor of his right to be free, caged like an aberrant animal.

Why should we give part of our work (t) to house Criminals who are never going to be rehabilitated? It's a complete waste of resources.
As long as person x is guilty and we are certain of it (we have conclusive evidence with no doubt) AND the person has absolutely no chance of being rehabilitated (they will commit more crimes upon release) THEN we have no reason to keep them imprisoned, spending millions of dollars to keep them alive. The resources spent on the prison system could go a long way toward helping the impoverished, sick and uneducated, which actually reduces crime, keeping individuals locked up for decades when we know there is no chance of them being reintegrated is completely useless.
Take two difference cases:
1. Man murdered family, shows no remorse, admits to enjoying it, psychological evaluation places his chance at reintegration at near 0.
2. Man murdered family, very remorseful, hates himself for it, psychological evaluation places his chances at reintegration near 0.5.
Both are serving "life" in prison.
1) Should be killed, there is near 0 chance of a positive outcome, the housing of said prisoner will waste resources.
2) Has a decent chance of getting better and living a normal life in the community, he should be rehabilitation as best as possible and given another chance.
There is no advantage to society in keeping either of these men in jail for life. Prison should never be permanent, it should be 1) A deterrent 2) A punishment 3) A rehabilitation centre 4) A death bed.
