Florida shooting: NRA-linked firms hit by consumer boycott

Florida shooting: NRA-linked firms hit by consumer boycott
More than half a dozen US companies have cut ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA) as consumers urge a boycott of businesses linked to the politically powerful gun lobby.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43173753

The group (NRA)* defended itself in comments on Twitter, saying people upset about the shooting should focus on lapses by law enforcement.

Trump has unsurprisingly criticised the boycott, even though of course these are the very freedoms he says he defends !!

Just a PR stunt for the companies, they'll make a show of it to the media and then after some time will make new deals silently... they have to be "inclusive" afterall.

Included are all major car rental companies, Metlife, Chubb, Wyndham Hotels, SimpliSafe, Omaha's First National Bank (no longer issuing NRA Visa card).

Not sure I'd agree it's just a PR stunt, suddenly this sort of thing isn't unthinkable, and the companies involved won't have control over how this might expand and continue.

There's been some coverage of politicians might be castigated for taking NRA money, I'd think however, NRA money could be sanitized by running it thru some PACS and still winding up in the right pocket with the appropriate legislative voting requirements still crystal clear.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

If they wanted to be "inclusive" they wouldn't have done anything.  Who was worrying about car companies doing business with the NRA?

Big companies don't care about shootings or lives, but they do care about business and right now they are pulling this stunt because a portion of the 300+ mil voices is making more noise than the NRA's 5mil voice. But the thing is, NRA is a lot more committed to making noise and doing so continuously as compared to the general fickle-minded population!

Not sure what you mean with this. I think anyone and everyone who stands up to that blood lobby is doing the right thing.

Nah, they'll go after violence in entertainment, of course.

And abortions.
