A priest's life is a wrong one. You don't get to live like a neutered when you are born whole. But the respect payed to the child rapist is normal, because lots of people are mentally gone. Shiny things attract them, titles and shiny robes are enough to clean a child rapist's crime into something pure. Lots of people are sheep. And they're proud by it. Actually they call you "weird" if you act differently.
Relying on civil judgments to reign in the church after the statutes of limitations has run out is clearly not working.
Choices would be for the church to make pedophilia abuse an actual sacrament or for governments to extend the statute of limitations. Which choice protects children ? The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
