I know it's not y'alls deal or anything but I would like a general calming of thread titles because of my work. I know I'm the one on the site on a work computer and you guys shouldn't be hit with rules because of something I do that I can help. I prefer being on a desktop because the mobile version is pretty hard to navigate and I usually am long winded in my replies which is easier with a keyboard. Not to mention I like to try to stay involved with the threads, even if I don't comment on many and if I avoid it during work y'all get twenty pages in and I'm like nope fuck it I'm not reading all that.
As you can see I'm not against cursing since I do it as well but there is a difference in font size for thread titles and regular subject text. If I'm looking at the threads just about anyone can read them (Side fun fact I try to keep the huge Atheist Forums at the top hidden because ya know I work at a stupid religious based company and not many know I'm an atheist so I reckon I'm already putting myself up for failure) I'm just saying that even if y'all don't have to it would be nice to keep the vulgarity inside the threads but since this is a "free" (said in humor since I help pay for it to run) site y'all do you.

What if it were decided that discussion of poop were deemed vulgar? There are, after all, people offended by the mere mention of a good BM.
While I'm sure you know I'm not truly serious, I think you can see the point I'm trying to make. One man's vulgarity is another man's poetry and someone somewhere will be offended no matter what the topic or the language used.
If the staff asked us to keep the word "poop" out of thread titles, sure, I'd be cool with that. I'd even support it if it also meant keeping bigoted language and overly vulgar terms out, as Chad said on the OP.

The most offensive threads and thread titles on this forum, for me personally, have been ones started by Neoscholastic and they didn't have any swearing in them at all.

Am I the only one that worries when these threads happen? Lol
I just want them to end already, because the more they go on, the more I feel they might actually work and soon we’ll be scrolling through a professional type setting where you feel like your posts must be dressed business casual, and the micro management will eventually remove casual Fridays.
Nah. I like our system now, I like how we’re moderated now, I like the ambient now, and I hope with all my keyboard that nothing comes of this.

I see you missed the point entirely.

Ok, I see what you mean.
So again, as I said on my very first post here, this isnt about someone being offended. I certainly am not. But if staff decided they wanted to make a rule banning terms that are objectively and overly vulgar, such as cunt, fuck, nigger, as well as blatant bigrotry, from thread titles, I would support it. Because I think it would just make for a better quality environment, for the same reason the prime directive rule does. Not because of being offended. Some people may personally hate the word "poop" but it isn't an objectively vulgar term to the extent that a word like "cunt" is.
Anyway, as I also said in my first post, I don't care much either way.

Cunt is not objectively overly vulgar. Some people use it as a normal swear word. I don’t see it as any more vulgar than the word shit

If there were a list of words that every single forum member considered to be overly vulgar that would make it easy but there won’t be any agreement on such a list so it would be a nearly impossible rule to implement. I doubt we could even get the small group of staff to agree on a list like that.
