How did our cells get their "information"?

It's why I think that ultimately it's not 'surivival of the fittest' it's survival of the survivors. Or IOW literally any organism that can survive for whatever reasons survives, even if it maintains many unfit elements or gets lucky. It's merely that fitter survivors tend to be better on the whole at surviving.

I completely agree with you. It means that the population is performing a search of all the possible strategies for surviving. Like water expanding out and finding each cavity to pool into.

This why who the fittest is keeps changing. The best strategy for survival keeps changing and it's the fittest who are better at surviving leading to more time and potential to breed..

Such a predator would become extinct after its food sources did, but a predator that was slightly less efficient and didn't make all its food sources extinct, would stick around.

The overly efficient predator sounds like humans.

It has actually happened on some of my earlier evolutionary runs when all my agents would eat all the food and then go extinct once they had evolved enough.

Evolved enough? Sounds like humans again ...

You can't find much info because this is still one of the unsolved problems , we don't know yet how you get from the molecular level to our level.

Well done on recognising that the neutral gene theory is a theory. Extra bonus points for recognising that theories are derived from evidence and observations.

We don't yet know how DNA first formed but it would have been some form of self-organisation. Science is always learning more.

Personally I hold to the metabolism-first school of abiogenesis.

Well, the RNA world has a lot of evidence to support it. Whether it came after a purely metabolism based life is not clear. Given the capabilities of RNA to catalyze various important reactions, the distinction may not be as large as many in the past thought.

Or metabolism first which is an excellent version

Snow. It's like kryptonite for theists.

You're probably bored of me mentioning it by now aren't you.

So you're going to compare a cell with a snowflake? Makes sense...

Stole them.

If the thing were comparing is self organization them yes . At least it better than theists who compare planes to cells . And evolution to a freaking tornado in a junkyard
