And even if we agree that we couldn't know if some cosmic deception is in play (agnostic), there is still the question of which assumption are you running on? I'm playing life as it lies. The assumptions that work in the real world are enough for me. I don't have interest in any hypothetical nonsense. No operational belief in gods = atheism, whether you're agnostic or not.

Indeed, most atheists and "just agnostics" will operate as if there are no overlords. I guess there might be some that try to "play it safe", but without any information about these guys, there's nothing you can do anyway. So you might as well forget it and get on with life.
