It's about that someone stands up to China and the other countries that have been taking advantage of our stupidity.  What a bunch of crybabies you are!  Look at the trade imbalance.  Notice that China has never been the one to complain about it.  We're not going to bring about fair trade practices from China unless we confront them over it.  This will get their attention.

There is a trade imbalance with China because 'Murricans can't stop buying cheap shit.  Wait until the orange turd's followers find out that his fucking tariffs are going to cost them.  Some of them are less stupid than the rest.

America middle class can't stop buying cheap shit because only through the procurement of ever more cheaper consumer trinkets could they continue to delude themselves into believing all is well in a society where the real income of the majority stagnated for 38 years while those of the top 1% quintupled.

Huge volumes of Cheap Chinese shit made it possible for Americans to feel they can afford more while their incomes stagnated.

The need ot the Chinese to park their massive trade imbalance in US government bonds is what allowed the GOP to lower taxes for the wealthy without letting the consequences of that ongovernment services be known to the middle class.

It is the trade imbalance with China that allowed GOPers and people like Trump to escape the guillotine thus far.

If America stops running trade deficits, the free flow of trinkets will stop. The cost of all the little gadgets to sooth a bleak future will rise, and the real consequence of 40 years of economic policy that pillaged the middle class to enrich the already wealthy will gradually become clearer, and social upheaval will follow.

Perhaps the Trump tax cut is a scheme for the wealthy to loot the total national wealth in one grand last hurrah before the bill for the last 40 years come due and they clam up or flee the country.

"We were hoping it was just brinkmanship and cooler heads would prevail. But instead, some of our worst fears seem to be coming true," said Duncan, who's also vice president of the Illinois Farm Bureau. "This is significant, real and serious for rural America."

The trade war between China and United States is ultimately a war between trump’s political clout at home and Xi JingPing’s political clout in China.

Much as trump wants to play the dictator, Xi Jingping is a real life professional dictator and apparently uncommonly talented at it.   The US is not yet accustomed to rolling over and playing dead at the approach of any would be dictator.  In China, there has been a Darwinian process over 2000 years in which anyone who does not roll over and play dead at the approach of a competent dictator, dies.

In the US, there is no living memory of real widespread hardship.  The rest of the world laugh at the “great” recession of 2008.   In China there is living memory of privation unimaginable to most Americans.

In America, militia bozos play at war. In China there is living memory of civil war in which millions died and governments are overthrown by large armies besieging cities. In extremis, China will remain regimented and obedient to central authority in return for stability for far longer than the US.

Ultimately, Xi Jingping is already by law president for life.  Barring major political upheaval in China, he will last longer than even the worst american nightmare about trump.  

I don’t think trump will win this one in the end.
