What makes you think ANY deity is required to do good and be good? I'd argue that our behaviors be they good or bad, as a species, isn't regulated from above from some fictional super natural "force" anymore than Yoda and Darth Vader exist.

 God says there is no one good except Him, all others fall short. You first have to understand what good is according to God who will judge man by His standard, unless you are saved through Jesus Christ. Man's idea of good falls far short of God's standard (who He is), man believes many things are good that God says is condemnable. If critical thinking leads to hell then what did you gain from it, eternal punishment. You believe critical thinking is a positive thing when by necessity it isn't.
