Take a look at this:
It's the second highest rated game on Steam of all time... second only to Portal 2. And that's just the early access reviews, it doesn't even release for a few months!
And it's definitely not all kill kill kill.

Try total war, arena. It's a 10v10 rts centered around conflict between rome, carthage, greece....and bar-bare-eans.

Fun tip for AoeII players. If you have a naval force attacking your opponent in a scenario like "Rivers" the AI will rarely, if ever, attack your side. Galleons, fireships and cannon galleons will keep them busy while your Wonder timer is winding down.
