Eve probably knew what death looked like from animal death.  They ended up dying after expulsion from the garden so they could multiply the earth.

Everyone has free will unless God speaks or works through them in moment.  There is a penalty for sin.  God is just and needs to punish for sin.  He offered himself as the sacrifice for that sin.  He gave us his pure righteousness and took on our sin upon Himself.  All glory be to God.

According to Biblical Scripture, God forms us in the womb.  He is our Designer.  It is based on the genes of the parents though so I can see what you are saying.
