My belly is hairy, like bear.

I'm SO glad it's you saying that, and not Deidre!

RE: Blog section?
We were actually going to have a blog a few years back. I even had a few people waste their time writing blog posts and then it never happened. Lots of work.

How about just having a subsection like we're saying? It's not a blog maybe like you're thinking...it's more of an ongoing journal/diary, if that makes sense. But, people would comment. It would be one continuous thread, that serves as the blog.

Oops, just read some of the thread. You meant where people can create their own blogs. Sounds like creating an all-new site within the site. Free blog hosting could become space-prohibitive fast too.

What’s wrong with just having regular threads exactly? If you want to write a blog post and have people comment on it, that sounds like a thread to me.

That was one idea, but yea...we all discussed it here, and it sounds like it'd be a hassle. But, the next best option would be to create a subsection/subforum like any other section (such as media, politics, off topic, etc) and then each thread is a member's journal/diary/blog, however they wish to title it, is up to them. Then, that thread serves as a the ongoing blog.

Not sure how much is involved to open or create a new subforum, but that's the idea we're thinking would be easier, and no cost.

Because if it were to be put say in off topic, it gets lost in all the other threads. I just think a section for all blog/journal threads would be a bit better and less cluttered, and treated (rules) like the intro section.

If you put the post in the appropriate section, it shouldn’t get lost. People comment in that which interests them and threads either float or sink. Most topics already have their own subforum. Are you thinking of more like personal blogs about life/family? I think we considered a subforum for that once, if it’s not there already.

RE: Blog section?
It will appear at the top of the section when you post in it, and people can also subscribe to threads to keep track of them. Blog functionality is not normal for a forum, so unless it’s something a lot of people want, I don’t think we’ll implement it.

That is true. I'm thinking of blogs/journals for whatever the member wants to post about...maybe one day, it's a vent about work, the next, asking for relationship advice, then next week...sharing a small triumph that has happened in their life. That kind of feel to it.

RE: Blog section?
So, really a life subforum separate from off-topic would suffice? Worth considering.
