Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of Colorado Baker
RE: Supreme Court Rules In Favor Of Colorado Baker
Well, it is a christian country, or so we;re told.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I'd like the cake man (and you) to give a list of all "sincerely held convictions" and then be held accountable to under all conditions and circumstances.

The supreme law of the land is the US Constitution which includes not only the free exercise of religion, i.e. being able to live in accordance with sincerely held convictions, but also freedom of association, which includes who you want to associate with personally, politically, and economically.

Quote:The Court’s precedents make clear that the baker, in his capacity as the owner of a business serving the public, might have his right to the free exercise of religion limited by generally applicable laws. ... It is unexceptional that Colorado law can protect gay persons, just as it can protect other classes of individuals, in acquiring whatever products and services they choose on the same terms and conditions as are offered to other members of the public. And there are no doubt innumerable goods and services that no one could argue implicate the First Amendment. Petitioners conceded, moreover, that if a baker refused to sell any goods or any cakes for gay weddings, that would be a different matter and the State would have a strong case under this Court’s precedents that this would be a denial of goods and services that went beyond any protected rights of a baker who offers goods and services to the general public and is subject to a neutrally applied and generally applicable public accommodations law. See Tr. of Oral Arg. 4–7, 10.

Very interesting. I am curious if this will set any sort of precedent in the future. There are obviously two sides to this situation.

Nope, the ruling was worded specifically so that it didn;t set precedent. There are two sides, though. The side that affirms the legitimacy of civil rights..and the side that reckons religious people shouldn;t have to adhere to civil rights law when operating a business.

Would the same religious people think it's okay for me to open a business offering services or products, and then refuse to serve people who somehow offend my sensibilities?

This all represents the new radical approach to religion where the person takes the parts of their book that they like (gay sex is a sin) but then ignore or explain away the parts they don't (and we should kill gays).

One toke over the line? For clarity, by "sjw" do you mean people who affirm the legitimacy of civil rights....? I can see that..kind of goes with the territory, wouldn;t you think? It -is- in the name, after all.

Ah a term that no longer has any  actual meaning and is just a right wing buzz word for what they don't like.
