One can hope though.

There have been 27 amendments to the Constitution, though I suspect there is a good chance the US will not survive long enough to see 28. It is very hard to imagine a way out of this disaster that preserves anything resembling the current US of A. (Think of the fall of the Soviet Union.) I will be pretty happy if we manage the fall without the lunatics in charge being provoked into tossing nukes around. Even if we manage some semblance of a controlled crash, environmental degradation, resource depletion, and overpopulation will - eventually - overwhelm most of our current political systems; the US included. That is kind of a grim prognoses but, on the other hand, it seems to be the way the evolution of the cosmos makes room for new ideas, new experiments, and new approaches to how life evolves. Maybe, a few thousand years from now, the "choke point" that was the failure of our first industrialized society will be seen as a necessary step in the evolution of human kind into a truly intelligent species.

Then again, maybe we are all just fucked.

Quote:Why not have as many political parties as possible. there ae a lot of issues out there, after all.

Because it is impractical.  Tell me.  Where is the Libertarian party ( 3% of the 2016 vote ) or Green Party ( 1% of the vote) today.  Where are their programs, candidates, rallies, ideas, or energy?  No.  Every 4 years they roll out of whatever fucking closet they are hiding in and pretend as if they have answers for problems they steadfastly ignore the rest of the time.

Just kidding. I'd Canada's views. Most of our allies are not as ass backwards as we are.

We had more than two choices and I selected a 3rd option. Was still given a lot of crap for letting Trump in or praise for keeping Hillary out.

In the current state I think financing any new/start up party would be difficult. Social media may give a leg up. To bad Trump appears to have used it better than anyone else.

I don't agree. Our votes are supposed to count. If we were to be fair, candidates would win by the number of votes received, not by some system that's rigged to have "swing states" where depending on your location, the electoral college gets to decide. It's a load of bull shit.

No, no, RR is right. It works the way it was designed to work. It is supposed to restrain democracy so the upper classes can maintain control. People like RR approve of that shit.

Why do you think that your votes didn’t count? I remember them counting votes and they did seem to make a big difference throughout the election night. There was probably even a few dead guys in Chicago who’s votes counted ;p I think that swing states just means that they can go either way, based on the voting count, and are not a guarantee for any candidate. Which I think is good. Also, I think it’s rare if ever, that the electoral college has gone against the votes for a state.

If you don’t think your vote counts, then don’t vote.

Seriously? Hillary won the majority vote yet look who's sitting in office. Clearly the majority didn't vote for him. And that is the problem with the electoral college system. If I have to explain it further, it becomes pointless.

Not the first time it happened either.  Bush didn't win the popular vote, but the incompetent Electoral College went against the people and chose him anyway.

So clearly every time the EC feels having a Democrat in office again is threatening the country, they decided to ruin the country by electing the Republican. It makes no sense, and it's why I won't vote until the EC is gone.
