It couldn't hurt.

I'm not so sure about that.  Doing something and then feeling guilty about it can cause people to behave in quite odd (and sometimes extremely dangerous) ways.

You actually have to have working brain cells to be affected by alcohol.

You guys should drop by the Gulf States and watch the strictly religious hammer back the shots. When I drove around the Med in 1974 I was never in a place where I couldn't get a cold beer or a shot.

Surely if you were to ask the person in the Masjid on the prayer mat next to yours about the Quran you will eventually come across a section which you disagree with the incineration of. Every part of the Quran has a spectrum of accepted interpretations because Allah won't tell us how to interpret the Quran. Fallible humans decide how they want to use and/or abuse the Quran. Why hasn't Allah sent an angel to give humans a book of Tafisr (revealed by Allah) from Jannah?

In his case it would have to be "odder."

Religions are imaginations gone wild and then taken seriously. No two heads will imagine the same exact caricature, therefore, they disagree.

If there are any lurkers here perusing this forum for enlightenment, you have found it.

There are countless religious believers throughout the world but you would be hard-pressed to find two of them (even within the same major religion) who agree on all fundamental points of morality. Is that a red flag or what?

The whole point of religion is that it is supposed to be a source of the TRUTH. If that were truly the case, there would be no disagreement on what that TRUTH was. God would reveal it clearly, right? You would think so but even the highest-placed individuals within the major world religions cannot agree with each other on what that TRUTH is!

Where is the TRUTH? I don't know but it should be obvious that you won't find it in religion.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

The purpose of religions is to brainwash the masses into complete obedience and loyalty to the Boss.  Religions sell the idea of heaven/paradise and eternal life for being obedient and loyal and hell fire and eternal damnation for being disobedient and disloyal.  In return the masses support the con men running the operation with money and assorted perks.

You won't find anything moral in the Bible because there's nothing moral in it.    It's just a lot of stories that teach the benefits of being obedient and loyal to the Boss.  It's essentially a military-like code of conduct for the masses.  Obey even if it costs you severe harm or death and don't change sides when the going gets tough.

Anybody have the numbers on people who change religions, and how many times they do this? Rationalizers may say these are not "true believers", but I think they're just samplers, looking for the one that best fits what they want religion to be.
