He's a loud mouth braggart and a long time associate of mob crime families.  The man is a dick with legs but I agree that there are plenty of assholes who were conned by him.  I really hope it bites you in the ass.

Trump is a lot of things and most of them are bad.  The thing is that just about everyone knows his faults and that hasn't stopped him from being successful with assorted groups.  Were people conned?  Maybe at first when he was an unknown but now just about everyone has an opinion about him.  As I've said before, when he croaks from whatever cause it will be the most popular event in human history.  Billions of people will be dancing in the streets around the world.

Oh stop it.  He was one of 17 sacks of shit seeking the nomination and the dumb fucks picked the biggest sack of shit.

Trump exuded personal confidence and he articulated an easily understanble message that appealed to people.  Now it's a given that any of the other Repub candidates would have won at least 20 of the Red States just because they are Repubs.  But Trump was able to pick up the Swing Rust Belt States because he articulated a plan for improving the people's lives.  None of the other candidates did that.  And Trump hasn't done what he said he was going to do but he still has some wiggle room.  He can easily win the next election if he runs.

Trump was able to win because he succeeded in persuading people. As I found out long ago, if you express yourself with confidence, people will have confidence in the truth of your assertions. Unfortunately for the notion that Trump will repeat his previous success, two things have intervened. First, Democrats have realized they can't take for granted that he will lose and must therefore turn out to vote and oppose him. Secondly, his record has undermined the validity of his previous confidence. Towards the latter point, his followers may still be persuaded by his confidence, but a) those not firmly in his camp may not be, and b) it offers a strong rhetorical point to be used in motivating those who are not firmly in his camp.
