Your just building on what I say and no they had no concept of what gods were to be. You apparently believe man can pull things out of the clear blue when he has no idea of what a thing is.

It's not my fault that your objections build up my case. Yes, the ability to pull things out of the clear blue is one of the defining characteristics of human beings. For instance, the idea that we can't make up just about anything and that there is some limit to our imaginations comes straight from your imagination.

You can't admit to my belief because you would be acknowledging that God was real, I understand that. Now tell me why is it that one invention comes from a previous one, if the previous one had not existed then the later would not have come along either. This is the way man's brain works and teaching is how we learn and move forward.

You do a better job of turning people away from Christ with your posts GC than I ever could with mine. If God is real, I want to know. I don't believe your argument because it's inane. If God is real, it's not because people couldn't possibly have imagined gods unless they're real.

All inventions have an ancestry that began with an original thought, unless you think the first of everything was created ex nihilo.

But really, there's no point in arguing with someone who has so little experience with imagination that they can't imagine others having a bigger one than theirs. There are some people who look at an ink blot and can only see a blot of ink, I guess.

You are denying God not trying to find Him so don't give me that kinda' crap.

All inventions have an ancestry that begins with observation ie. seeing and then thought. The universe was most definitely was from nothing.

I have experience with imagination, imagination that comes from preconceived things. Those who look at an ink blot and see an image of something is because they have been exposed to that image before hand, the test is simple say what you have seen before this is the reality of the test. Those who say they see an ink blot are the ones telling the truth, they see what's before them ink splattered on a piece of paper. You are correct in say there is no need to carry this conversation on and not because of your reasons, it's because you haven't proven your POV.

RE: Just a theory
Religion follows a pattern. It starts with observation of animals and plants and rocks and trees and weather and dreams. Then personification leads to spirits of animals and plants and rocks and trees and weather. Dreams demonstrate that in the dream world, these things sometimes talk or otherwise behave like living things. Then there's the dead people in the dreams, and the human experience of feeling dead people like phantom limb after they're gone, still interpreting environmental signals as signs of their presence. It sure FEELS like your ancestors are watching over you, sometimes. And so you get animism, the religion of many indigenous and isolated people, who may not even have a word for 'religion', it just seems obvious to them that all things have a spirit that can be angered or placated, and that ancestor spirits watch over them. There's your 'original observation'.

All of your arguments seem to work out against you in the end, because either way, gods don't need to be real to be imagined, even if your hypothesis that 'original thought is impossible' were true.

Are we playing “Quotes”?

Helsinki After Hours:

“But, Mr Putin, you said it would be my turn on top if I did everything you tell me to!”

“Shut up and bend over. Take it like a good doggie!”

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"
