Nothing I read there was either funny or indicative of a quirky sense of humour. Yeah it's crude sense of humor but i still think it's suppose to be humor and again it was a decade ago and he recognizes it was wrong and accepted his punishment . Unlike some actors i can think of who scream anti Trump conspiracies as an excuse for their own bad behavior .

1. The jokes were a decade old and as awful as they are they clearly are not meant to be taken seriously .And he's already condemned them so what more can we ask of him ?
2. And unlike says Rosseane Barr who has a decade long spree of comparing black women to monkey's and other clearly racist tweets and not even in the context of really bad humor .His jokes are clearly not personally held opinions even if they are really really bad .
3.And i don't believe for second Disney didn't know about them .But i do find it ironic that Disney of all companies is chewing someone out for being offensive .And the person exposing these tweets is a rape apologist .Just pointing that out .
I think Disney ought to be careful about digging up offense stuff from the past
Or the jungle book, where the apes all have black american accents. Yeah that was off very off .Which kinda sucks because i love that song .

Actually, they all have Italian-American accents. The original plan was for Louis Armstrong to voice King Louie. Fortunately, they decided to change the actor to Louis Prima specifically to avoid that implication. The other apes? His backing band Sam Butera & The Witnesses.
All honkies, and they don't seem to have changed that much to get the monkey voices.
Honestly, there are legitimate stereotypes to call out Disney on (the Siamese cats from the Aristocrats and Lady and the Tramp, the Indians in Peter Pan among them), and it shouldn't be necessary to bollocks up the history to do so.

Also, I just discovered this article, and I think that, apart from failing to mention Troma once, it sums up all my thoughts on Gunn, and most of my misgivings of the sort of Call-out culture that's become epidemic since last October with Weinstein's fall.

Granted, a lot of the people who've been taken down aren't likely to change, but the fact that the Twitter Hive Mind has basically become Chuck McGill is horrifying:

I laughed at two of them. Not going to say which ones though. Laughter in involuntary, and humor is subjective. Those tweets we're obvious jokes, esspecially when you compare them to the tweets of the guy who ousted them, which don't seem to be intended for humor at all.
I don't he should of been fired over this. If you can't make a joke about a monkey masturbating on a child at the zoo without losing your job, what is America coming to?

Honestly, the "it's not comedy because I don't personally find it funny" line reminds me of this:
https://books.google.com/books?id=XacCgR...ke&f=false
Bahari is treated as a traitor for reporting on one the disputed 2009 elections in Iran and is locked up for "media espionage." When they actually decide to come up with some evidence, they show a clip of him on the Daily Show, basically playing the straight man to Jason Jones' "spy" act. They don't see the humour in Jones' act and they sure as Hell don't see it in Bahari's attempt at deflating American paranoia about a monolithic Muslim Middle East. Therefore, it's evidence he's really a spy working for a foreign government.

Intention means a lot when it comes to humor. If you're trying to be funny and you fail, it doesn't mean you're a monster who has a boy fetish. It means you're not good at jokes.

Got word from Disney. According to an anonymous source in Variety, “I don’t see Disney re-hiring him. Those tweets were so horrible and Disney has a different standard than other studios.”
A different standard, where kowtowing to pushes from right-wing trolls like Mike "Pizzagate" Cernovich in the guise of trying to stop rape culture is a perfectly fair action. Actually doing the right thing doesn't really matter, as long as you look like you're doing the right thing.
And the sad thing is this is exactly what political correctness is: the same reactionary and censorious mentality that used to be ubiquitous in the right being applied from the perspective of the left. And just because it's being applied to causes I can legitimately get behind doesn't make it any less repugnant to me.
