Watching a show "How The Universe Works"

Watching a show "How The Universe Works"
Lawrence Krauss gives some comments in the episode I am watching about the most destructive places in the universe.

Exploding stars are GI FUCKING FULL OF ENERGY, but the gravity of a neutron star is even more HOLY FUCKING SHIT! But wait, act now and we'll give you TWO colliding neutron stars with even more HOLY FUCKING SHIT!"

But just heard a new theory that neutron stars produce "strange matter" made up of "strangelets" which as a theory has two types of "strange quarks" each positive and negative like regular quarks both up and down. In theory if you get near a "strangelet" just one negatively charged, say bye bye. <---But again, I am only repeating what the show claims.

Call 1-800-BLK-HOLE and ask for the super massive size, which shoots out HOLY FUCKING FUCKING, DID I MENTION HOLY FUCKING? massive jets of particles from it's poles.

I am being silly in my summery merely to make the point the universe is FUCKING BIG and it really drives home to me how small and finite our planet and species are when you compare it to the bigger more powerful and destructive aspects.

The show is also noting small lethal dangers locally too.  Like the example that if you had a meteor the size of a BB traveling at just 40,000mph it would go through any space suit or any modern technology as far as ship protection we have now.

If I am remembering correctly, mind you, it was a long time ago. Our space shuttle shields could only stop small objects traveling at 20,000mph. IF I am remembering correctly.

The good thing with all these dangers in our universe  is that there is enough space between all these dangers that earth doesn't to be in any near danger. Our real worst enemy short term, is us.

Ok Leela, Fry would love that.

When people say "you live in your mother's basement", well, if you want to live longer, just know time slows down the closer to the center of gravity of a celestial body.

Scientists literally have sensitive equipment that can detect the difference in time between your attic and basement.

Just learned a new term watching this show. "Frame dragging" that is when any body, a black hole, a star or even a planet, causes space/time to swirl around the object.

Brian, you would like "The Planets and Beyond". Mike Massimino, one of the astronauts who fixed Hubble, hosts.

I really wish I had been interested in this stuff when I was a kid. All I cared about was Farrah Fawcett and not getting beaten up by bullies.

Chime in here folks. One episode was about the center of black holes. Some astrophysicists are saying that by studying black holes we can gain a better understanding of the big bang. Could it be that our universe was really the result of the collapse of a super super super super massive black hole? Or does it simply give us insight to gravity and heat and mater and space/time?

It depends on how big the thing is, not just how fast it’s going.
