RE: Atheists: What would you say to a dying child who asks you if they'll go to heaven?

Child, there are parts of you that were conceived in the heart of a star. You are a very important part of this universe and it is here you will stay.
You need not fear any hell that exists in your mind. You are a child of life and life has been a wonderful home for you.
Because you asked such an adult question, would you rather I lie to you and treat you like a child or tell you the truth and respect that you can handle it ?
The truth is... I don't know.
I also don't believe that there is a heaven nor a hell.
Both places would be cruel in my opinion.
What if I told you that after you die, you get to spend several years with everyone who loves you and then slowly you fade away into the night ?
Well, you have been living several years with everyone who loves you and soon it will be time to fade away into the night.
This life is our heaven, but it's not forever.
And that's why it's so wonderful.

There's a big difference between thinking you ought not to have children and telling other people they ought not to have children because you don't like what you imagine about them.

that's probably true(though not everyone agrees) but I still think that responcible atheist parents should ask their children occasionally if they like being born into godless purely material world.
Everyday we live in a godless world so it would be redundant to ask. Might as well ask how it feels to be born so near nuclear fusion. Feels fine.
If people stopped talking about god it would never be a thing to discuss.

First of all, make your own thread about this if you really want to instead of derailing mine. This is about children of
theists, assuming they are young enough to be unquestioning theists themselves.
Second, since you've hijacked it anyway: I understand your point. (understand, not agree with.). But surely your god wouldn't be so cruel as to condemn a child to hell simply because it listened to its parents. And if he is, why the f are you worshipping someone so cruel?

I wonder if Christians ask their kids how they feel about living in an Odinless or Zeusless world?
I wonder why not.

Well, the most likely explanation for that is that you're an asshole, Dmitry.

I would say him "You're a child and yours sins aren't serious and you believe that Jesus is your saviour".
I don't think you have any reasons to fear hell.
Then improvise with what it would say me.
I'm a strong Atheist and I prefer an answer that is not an answer to not scare him with my unbelief.
Also , if I see that child is really scared about hell.
I would be lying to him and say he is going to heaven.
I think each situation is different of each others and that we need to adapt accorded to circumstances.
