How does one needlessly buy a new laptop when they don't need one, and loose an entire carton of smokes? Be me.

In my panic to get out of town, I forgot that I did pack my laptop, but couldn't find it because I had put it in a tote that I stored in my van, and not the totes in my house. I cant live without the internet, so when I got up there I bought an el cheapo. Got home and discovered I had the old one the entire fucking time! DOH! 

And in my panic to get home to avoid getting cut off by flooding, I rushed my packing the van, thought I brought the carton with me, but pretty damned sure I left it in the room, or it fell off the cart in transport from the room to my van.

Wow, watching the news this morning on CNN. So fucking glad I decided not to go the long route into SC to do a u-turn to circle up back into NC. Turns out I would have been cut off and stuck in SC.

A tropical storm will still drop shit loads of rain. Most of South Carolina is three feet above sea level.

Yes and no. You cant base the damage solely on the category. Even though it went down to a 1 when it hit, it slowed down and hugged the coast with half of it over the ocean and slowly went south. That allowed it to suck more water up from the ocean and dump it on the land. Most damage and death from storms like this are from flooding. 

NC and SC when you look at a map of the rivers, in both states, it looks like the spokes of a spider web going out to the ocean. There was still tons of damage in both states. The mere tropical storm that hit Texas this week also caused a lot of flooding. 

My neighborhood got through it well for a couple of reasons. 1. We don't live in a flood prone area. 2. We were not on the outer Islands or inlets. 3. Our neighborhood is surrounded by big swaths of pine trees so by the time the wind hits us, it is broken up. 

But other places, like Florence SC and Whiteville NC and New Burn NC and Snead's Ferry NC got pummeled and flooded severely. And do a google search of I-40 in NC. A good 60 miles of it was flooded, it still looks like a river in parts. 

Categories only describe the wind speed, it is flooding that causes the most damage and death.
