What's your biggest beef with religion?

I dislike the way religion condemns people for doing things that are perfectly moral. Like having sex.
How people in power use it to manipulate the average folks. This includes many techniques like brainwashing young, anti intellectualism, pitting one group against another by promoting bigotry, elevating harmful and negative moral behaviors that lead to groups be easier to control, etc.
It's essentially putting a ring in the nose of a baby so those at the top can lead them around their whole lives by it.

Having false beliefs, based on faulty epistemology, lead to real world negative consequences.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

As a hindoo, I resent not being allowed to eat beef. Maybe if I leave it really rare, I can pretend that it is pork?

The fact that religionists go out and deliberately promote ignorance to aid in spreading their parasitic infection to other potential hosts.
Religion is a behaviour altering parasite. It is a contagious mindrot that infantilises the recipient and feeds off them, making them waste their lives. |
