If that is real, I really need to ask the U.S and lots of other allies of MBS: did Saudi cash and interest affect you to the degree of being allies with a ghoul like this?

SA's resources, strategic location, and institutional continuity are what made us allies. The middle east is a full roster of ghouls, at present (gee...what could they all have in common, lol?), so we're bound to end up as allies to one ghoul that at least fits the three above......
...however, there's good news! If some hypothetical non murdery regime replaced the current, we'd be their buddies too. Get to work!

You know there is that whole, let's replace our dependency on foreign oil with some more intelligent system of operating, but hey, let's not dare to dream.

Yeah absolutely, and we've got renewables just itching for a bigger chunk of the market. Meanwhile, we've been working to reduce our dependence for half a century. The funding for that hypothetical non murdery regime is on a timer. If they don't crop up while we're still looking to buy their merch it's going to be that much more difficult for them to establish themselves (relative to how easily the current murdery regime had it, ofc).
The end of oil might be a national holiday in the US at some point. It's difficult to see that being the case in the persian gulf.

Thanks to fracking and natural gas we aren't so dependent on foreign oil. But 'Murrican oil companies are and they need to keep the prices up.
I always have to laugh when some flag-waving shithead says "our troops are fighting for our freedom." No, they are not. Our freedom is only under attack by one scumbag political party at home. They are overseas fighting for who-knows-what. Making the world safe for Exxon-Mobil's profit margin?

But that is one stinky foreign policy; in social life we call such a person who only sees their interest as "selfish","exploiter". I mean this is very insulting because the Middle East has good people still; they are hiding only because they are scared, and because foreign politician -like the American and the Russian- seem to support only their enemies.
Maybe there's nothing wrong with Muslims having bad people like MBS. But it has to do with the western -and American;especially- foreign policy that sees everybody as a ghoul, and has a xenophobic basket that it puts all foreigners in.
And it results in supporting ghouls like the Sauds, and justify it with lame excuses like "but..everybody is a ghoul !"
You don't see that this mentality is so damaging and selfish?
