Yes Brian, i understand that evolution produces violence. However, humans are violent just for the sake of violence. They are violent towards each other, just because they can be. I'd like to think that a truly evolved mind would beyond such mindless actions. This is why I say I hate humans. I like individual persons, but as a species, I can not stand them.

We are not saying anything different here. I do not like the dark side of our evolution in our ability to be cruel, we certainly can be. But like you I certainly can and do like individual human beings whom display the empathy and compassion our species is also capable of.

Evolution isn't a utopia unfortunately. It is still up to humans how we choose to interact.

I saw the footage on the news. Fair play to guy with the shopping trolly. Apparently the scumbag with with the knife was known to police but mainly in respect to some of his relatives, who are now persons of interest. If this is so, and there’s not enough evidence to arrest them, said relatives should be sent back to the land from whence they came.

The attacker, who was a 30-year-old Somali community member known to ASIO, was shot by police after he repeatedly lunged at them with a knife.

Given that he grew up in Somalia when there was no government and it was in total anarchy (he's 30, and likely spent most of his childhood in the worst large-scale anarchy the world has seen), could he have been suffering some PTSD and flashed back to worse times?

The police are treating the attack as terror related. They believe he was radicalized. It wasn’t just a knife attack, there were gas cylinders in the back of the car which failed to explode.

I understand the desire for revenge, but in the west doctors don't get to decide whom they save. We have courts for a reason. But yea, there certainly are times when you feel like beating the fuck out of someone.

There are plenty of Christian doctors in America, I certainly don't want them having that mindset if I end up in the operating room, we have plenty of fundies whom would want revenge on us, even without having committed a violent act.

Unfortunately (or possibly fortunately), I wouldn't kill, or allow to die, even scum like this. I made an oath and adhere to it.
