The week after that, who knows...
If I didn't hate flying so much. The ruins of Pompeii would be something I would love to see. Just so I could thank my late mother(even if only in my head) for giving my my first copy of National Geographic "World Magazine" for kids, which contained ghastly pictures of the victims of the 79CE eruption. THANKS MOM! That didn't give me nightmares.
I met a grad student from Indiana University when I was there in 1976. She took me behind the ropes. Evidently some of that stuff still hasn't hit the catalogs.

Funny you should mention this song. My late friend Bob, whom I visited for the only time this past Feb, , but had known online since 01, often talked about his travels in his life. He lived in Brisbane Australia. So much so I started calling him Higgins from Magnum PI. When I teased him calling him Higgins, he would sing, "I've been everywhere man".

It was my first thought. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything in the ABBA chronicles that would be sufficient.

I haven't got there yet.
It's on the list.
A few years ago I went to the National museum in Wellington because a number of artifacts were brought over from Pompei, including several of the plaster fugures.
It was brilliant.

Unfortunately, I am a horrible ABBA fan. I hate flying so there is little chance I will ever see the Swedish "Graceland" museum in Stockholm dedicated to them.

Grants Pass, Oregon. Went up when it was lush and green. Came back through it after a fire had devastated the place. It was all over the news back in 1988.

At some point in my misspent naval "career", I stood on the flight deck of the USS Oriskany. Watching its hulk scuttled off the coast of Florida to establish a base for a reef was an eerie sight, is all I can say. I wasn't on her THAT day, for sure, though I was working at Cape Canaveral at the time.
