They actually do conspire to tank fuel efficiency regs. In fairness.

Firearm factory CEO's are like any other CEO, they are there to make money for the company and shareholders. Businesses also use laws and courts to resist change. Oil took forever to take led out of gas, and is still using money in global politics to resist facing climate change. And auto makers too, they sell gas hogs because people fall for the marketing instead of caring about what pollution does to the planet. The auto industry screamed when Nadar told them their products were not safe. Big tobacco also spent money in politics to hide the health problems of smoking and hide it's marketing to minorities and kids.
It is always about money when it comes to any big business.

Wasn't aimed at me..but I drive a big gas guzzling 4wd that's 15 years old. Course, I can count the number of times I leave my house in a month on one hand, but hey. I bought it for the ceiling mounted dvd player. It even came with The Nutty Professor, free of charge! I was in the market for a bus..but none were available.

We've got two rice burners, a Hyundai and a Mazda. I keep waiting for the Mazda to die ( it's a 2002 ) and nothing ever goes wrong with that car. According to the Blue Book it is worth exactly -0-. I often think it is not worth filling up with gas!
