Movie Trailer heads up thread.
RE: Movie Trailer heads up thread.
Project Hail Mary is coming to streaming on MGM+. I can get a trial membership through Prime Video and I've had an interest in the movie.

It's one of those rare Hollywood gems where if you've read the book, you'll probably like the film more than if you hadn't. It's a great adaptation.

I've read/listened the book and that's why I don't feel the need to watch the movie although I liked the book, but you say it's worth watching.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

This is a book I read once or twice a year. I saw it at the theater, loved it, and will be picking up the blu-ray once the price-gouging is done. If there's one thing Hollywood is good at, it's making buddy movies, and that's how they handled this one. There were certainly liberties taken (impossible not to when adapting long-form fiction), but they stayed very true to the spirit of the story. Something they almost never bother with.
