I know exactly why I use the term, it's accurate.
Fair enough, but it's a slur, right? The spirit of the rule is to make the forum more palatable at a glance. For example, the cover of "Catcher in the Rye" is simple, palatable. You turn to the right page, though, and you're hit with lewdness. Fantastic stuff, but you've got to open it to get there. Let people decide to open it. If the thread title is "Creationism is Stupid," they can choose to join in or not. If the title is "Creationists are stupid," they've been insulted without even opening the thread. Sure, I agree that you've got to be pretty stupid to be a Creationist, but they should be able to browse the forum without being called stupid. Once they open the thread, though, they should be prepared.
I mean, you're not a Creationist, so you're not stupid. Don't use slurs in the titles of threads. You can handle it.

Just be glad we championed all of your right to swear and call ideas stupid. We can still criticize and individuals can still avoid being personally insulted by a thread title. If you find the idea that your religion is stupid personally insulting, you need to chill. Chances are, you didn't invent that shit. Some other idiot did.

Hey, that's a fallacy! Just because he's not a Creationist doesn't mean he can't also be stupid! Right Wololo?
No need to make this forum great again. It's always been great. We're just putting new lippy and a fresh wig on it!

One way makes friends faster than the other way.
... I suppose it comes down to what types of friends you're looking to meet.
Which ones are the hot ones willing to drop trow on a trice?

Calling an idea "stupid" isn't the best way to critique something, but ultimately it's a relatively tame expression. Calling an idea "fucking stupid" is less desirable, but still, "fucking" just emphasizes the stupidity you are trying to convey.
Calling an idea "retarded" is literally using a slur for mentally disabled people. So yeah, there's a big difference.
Calling someone retarded isn't a slur directed at the mentally challenged, it is an idiomatic way of saying that the other is behaving as if they are mentally challenged even though one has no reason to expect such behavior from them. As a comment about ideas or beliefs, it is equivalent to calling the idea or belief stupid. I don't agree with your reasoning here.
Would I be using a slur if I used 'cracker' or 'milquetoast' in a thread title?

Cracker, yes, though I'm actually wondering what our stance is on thread title humor. Still, just don't use slurs. You know what slurs are. You ain't stupid.

So, my understanding is, someone like Min can still make threads with titles such as "Damned Christians" or "Christians are so stupid" ... he just can't make threads with titles like "Christians are such fucktards" or "X-Tards are idiots" and such. Outside of R'lyeh, that is.

"X are so stupid" potentially runs afoul of the Prime Directive, so not necessarily. It hinges on whether there are sufficient staff votes to deem it an overly negative generalization of a group. I couldn't say how each staff member might vote under a hypothetical situation.
But yeah, such thread titles will be allowed in R'lyeh

Okay, so "Damn Catholics" is still okay on the main forum but "Catholics are fucktards" will be permitted in R'lyeh?
That doesn't seem like it will go far enough to inspire measurable change.
