My husband just found out this was a thing, and a thing a lot of my friends did in HS and JrHS. He thought it was creepy, he had a hard time believing me.

I wasn’t put through the whole shebang, and knew it was a bunch of crap. But if one thing about my religion fucked me up it was the whole attitude towards female sexuality.

religion should be about learning about God, not about your own sexuality. Sorry you went through that natachan. I think things like this purity ball are for families who don't feel they have enough control over their offspring to share the parents moral standpoints with their children, and it is creepy, mostly because it's taking something very private and personal to a public forum and group consensus. Either that or they just need a group to validate their personal moral beliefs because they can't stand on their own, house of cards and all that.

If you view "virginity" as something other than what others view it, then what is it?  It's an opinion. Who is your opinion valuable to?  Obviously you, and, of course, anybody who finds your view credible.
