Deliciously perverse.  Even moreso when we realize, as we must, that these girls aren't actually holding an aspirin between their knees.   It's just overtly sexual pageantry between father and daughter.

In your mind.  Valuable to you and whoever you can convince of your position.

It's a fact.

Same way that you could.  Go..let wonder lead you to knowledge.

If someone breaks a promise, it's on them.  Hopefully when someone makes a promise, they go out of their way to keep it.

I can only speak for myself here, but to me it's something I assume as being sacred and I don't use the word "promise" lightly.  If I promise something, I'm going to go above and beyond if necessary to uphold my end.  But if someone else views a promise differently, then they're going to act accordingly.

I agree with you that wonder can lead to knowledge, but not all knowledge is good knowledge.  That is why wisdom is always necessary.  If I know I can rob a bank without getting caught, it's up to me to make a choice.  Some may do it, others wouldn't.   I wouldn't, because I know it would hurt others.  Others may think the same way, and others would likely rob the bank because they value the consequences differently.

Hope in one hand, shit in another.  That's yet another added layer of perversity to this shitcake.  Daddy dearest knows full well how likely they are to keep such a promise.  He was a young boy once, presumably.

That's nice, dear...but teenage girls don't keep their purity promises...and there's no place that this is more obvious than exactly those places where purity promises are a thing, lol.  It's almost as if all of this pageantry and religious drama has precisely the opposite effect from which it was intended.............or something.

Gee, I wonder why that is?

RE: Purity Ball
In my experience this was more about enforcing gender norms. However that is VERY specific to my experience. I’ve never been “traditionally” feminine, and on the Kingsley scale I’m between a 2 and 3 (primarily heterosexual with some homosexual tendencies). I’m also somewhat “butch” if that makes any sense. So for me this was primarily an attempt by the church to enforce gender roles that I don’t fit into.

I’m not sure how much my parents bought into this. It was VERY obvious to them that I wasn’t going to fit into those roles from very early. Add there were other things going on with me, mostly academic, which made them hesitant to enforce those roles. So when a bunch of my friends started this BS my parents sort of passively stood aside. It is also to note that this was in the late ‘90’s and early 2000’s when this sort of thing was REALLY big.

My opinion of this is dim. It’s gross, and it’s part of a larger move within certain parts of Christianity which are really anti-woman. While I support healthy chastity I am strongly opposed to this flavor of religious idiocy.

Purity Ball is a ceremony where teenage daughter promises to her father that she won't masturbate herself, kiss a guy before marriage ("because that would be kissing someone's future husband!") and not to mention allowing a penis in her body before marriage.

What a sick, sick, sick concept.

What is purity and what does it mean?

RE: Purity Ball
Varies. Most times it just refers to virginity but it can scale up to not dating or even socializing with someone of the opposite sex that you don’t intend to marry.

This has nothing to do with my statement.

You don't seem to value women and their right to make choices.  If a daughter chooses something, then why can't she do it?  Why would we need to control women and tell them what to do sexually?  If she makes an agreement with her dad, then more power to them both.  If she makes a promise and breaks it, then it's on them for making the promise.  If it's upheld, good for them.  They did it.  We don't need you and other nutjobs telling women what choice they have to make with their body sexually.
