A prediction for the new year
A prediction for the new year

I will make two predictions for the new year:-

1) The pope will pray for peace in the world.
2) It won't work.
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

I usually have a pretty fair prognosticatory record on the Forum, so here goes:

Boru's Official Predictions For 2019

1.  A European crisis will be precipitated when Ukraine is invited to join NATO.

2.  Donald Trump will bow to pressure from within the Republican party and resign from office.

3.  Worldwide recession, longer lasting but not as severe as the last one.

4.  Steve Carrell will be nominated for an Academy Award for 'Welcome to Marwen'.

5.  Mick Jagger dies, stunning people who thought Keith Richards would go first.

6.  In the wake of Brexit, a 'hard' border reappears between Northern Ireland and the Republic, sparking a resurgence of paramilitary activity.

7.  Massive spike in oil prices, due largely to increased Russian influence (and decreased USian) in the Middle East (exacerbates Prediction #3).

8.  Beginnings of a pan-African coalition.

9.  Star Wars: Episode IX will be a critical and commercial disaster.

10.  HUGE improvement in battery technology both for vehicles and household power.

Ignoramus will still be an ignoramus.
Boru, I agree with a lot of that except.

The next recession will hit harder and longer.
Oil will spike but then drop significantly as demand wails due to the recession
All SW will make plenty at the box office. Tell me which SW fan won't go and see it irrespective Dunno

My prediction. One or more major car manufacturers will shut their doors. (2019-2020)

*shrug*  Those are my predictions, dammit, and I stand behind them.  In fact, I stand well, WELL behind them, looking and my feet and whistling nonchalantly in the hope that no one will remember I made them when they all come a cropper.

My prediction for next year. I'll either have banged my knee off my desk or my funny bone off a random protruding object (e.g a key in a filing cabinet lock) hard enough to curse the world by the end of January.

I got a prediction to blow everyone away!
I told this to my MIL and she laughed, looked at Pam and called me an idiot!

I told her that 6 billion people will perish in the next 100 years!
(it's called old age. She still didn't believe it Dunno RIP Lizzy)
