Evolution has convinced you that your cat may want to eat you?  Welp, so much for evolution then. Not even lions will generally try to eat people.  Once in awhile there will be a rogue lion, but we're not seen as "prey."  If one attacks a person it's probably doing it defensively.  If a lion assumes you as a friend, you can possibly snuggle up like a house cat and people do.

I must say I find a lot of expressions of emotions that dogs make really remind me how we are all related on the evolutionary tree.

The way a dog may sit on your lap and sigh, or get frustrated at something would seem to innately human otherwise.
