We have had generals, lawyers, actors, farmers, nuclear technicians and hat salesmen as Presidents in the US.

What occupation would you like to see on a candidate's resume??

Therapist.  Somebody needs to sit these assholes down and help them work through their issues.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I genuinely don't care what job experience you have. If you have integrity, if you have certain policy positions that I support, and if you haven't serially sexually assaulted anyone, I'm down.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

How about some common sense and honesty? Previous job doesn't really factor in.

...oh, and being literate...I think the president should be literate.

I'd like to see another teacher be President. Someone whose job it was to know a shitton of stuff about the issues at hand and explain it to people. A century ago, we had the President of Princeton University become the President of the United States. Okay, technically, it was 106 years ago and there was a three-year-buffer between his heading Princeton and the US, but still, it was actually a fairly good run. Hopefully the next one will be a lot less racist than Wilson was.

Somebody with a lifetime record of public service, and no ties to major corporations or rich people.

The first so that I know they'll work for the phblic good, the second so I know they're not corrupt.
