None of what you are arguing would lead to a Sky Wizard regardless. I am not saying you are arguing one exists, I am merely making my objection to old mythology in my original post.

I'd only agree that science updates as new data comes in. I see nothing about the majority of scientists scrapping the term "black hole". They still use it.

Just like there is a battle between string theory and m-theory. But neither are looking back to have old bronze age gods as gap answers.

It still remains that there are massive forces in the universe that prove that humans are finite, and not the product of a magic factory boss.

Damn, dude. You are incapable of learning science, because all you want to do is use it to refute theistic figments of your imagination. You might as well be fervently religious, because when you learn a little science all you can think about is religion.

I know that you aren't dumb, but you have serious problems with intellectually blowing your own brains out.

Oh so you are claiming science points to an old bronze age deity? By your logic then Thor exists because we can observe lightening.

I think that it's time to leave you laying there in a puddle of what used to be your own grey matter. I tried to discuss blackholes and alternatives to blackholes purely as a matter of science with you. You just can't let go of religion.

And I don't care.

The club you claim to ascribe to that you note, all be it "lax" under your avatar is "Jewish".

Sorry, it is just a religion, and it is still a club  started in antiquity, just like all the other religions of the world.

I can appreciate that you are not far right bigoted wanting to arrest others, and that is all great. But again, I don't care. You can be the nicest person in the world, but if you are clinging to the past, you are still clinging to the past.

No, that is the point, I DID LET GO of religion. Thus I hold the off position of "atheist".

You have not. You let go of the old superstitions maybe, but you still like the traditions. Maybe now you are more of a "deist" than a Jew, like Jefferson was more of a deist than a Christian. But to me, it is simply a refusal to let go of the past, even though you know those old claims are not passing muster.

Our universe is also a black hole destroyer. Quantum mechanics say even block holes must gradually leak energy into surrounding space. This energy can in theory be extracted to do work. Eventually even the largest blackholes will leak all of its energy into surrounding space and no more black holes will remain. When the last black hole has thus evaporated, then universe would truly reach heat death.

Ok fine.

Kinda falls in line with "energy cannot be created or destroyed", if I am reading this post correctly.

But my point whatever we do not know currently does not involve old mythology.

I lean to the entire universe dying from heat death. It makes sense to me on every level from macro physics to QM that nothing lasts forever. Atoms have a shelf life too.

My problem with theists is that they still insist on attaching our current knowledge to old claims, instead of scrapping the old claims.

I lean to a "forever" existing. Although science has not figured out "something" or "nothing" prior to the big bang. The one thing I do not agree with is that a super cognition is needed to figure out which.

I see "all this" as being a giant wave function, cycling from temporary states of off to on, then back to off then on again.

Cognition to me is simply like a temporary snowstorm, or hurricane, based upon the conditions and seasons.

Ultra massive black holes...? You must know my ex-wife.

Ugh I know that's crude and gross but I'm sorry I couldn't resist. What are we talking about now?

edit: no I do not have an ex-wife as I've never been married; it just seemed like one of those things a disgruntled divorced guy would say.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

 Hello! Smile

I remember reading in a New Scientist article that for stars there's an upper limit to their speed of rotation and for Black Holes there's an effectivly lower limit to how fast such a thing can spin.

Since... one is an effectivly 'Solid' object and the other is just an effect on the reality around it.

NOW.

The above, I'm guessing, is based on the 'Solid Vs Hole' model of the two things.

How does the 'Black Sun' you've mentioned work in relation to the above?

Sorry if I've worded the question poorly. Blush

Not at work.

To be fair, one can be culturally Jewish and not be religious.

I was doing Brian a favor by introducing him to scientific skepticism about blackholes. It had absolutely nothing to do with religion. Brian simply can't discuss science without making it about religion. I don't consider myself to be a cultural Jew because cultural Jews are assholes. I'm a lapsed Jew.
